As a professional roofer here in the Atlanta area, I naturally think about roofs a lot. Now, if you have a roof over your head that is properly installed and of the correct material, you probably don't have to think about your roof at all. It's probably only when yours fails that you start to think about your roofing, and that is how it should be.

Does your roof need to be replaced? If so, it's probably time to call in a roofing contractor.

Causes of Leakage Occasionally metal-wall flashing may warp and be drawn out of the groove or joint in the vertical surface or, when roll roofing is used, it may break at its junction with the vertical surface, allowing water to run down behind it. The force of the wind may tear flashing loose from the face of the roofing allowing water to enter under it during heavy rains.

Winter may finally be over, but in some of the hardest hit regions of the country, it's left a lingering reminder of its wrath. As KUSA TV out of Colorado recently reported, "Wet, heavy snow means leaking roofs".

If you have coated roofs within your property, then sooner or later you may need to consider the prospect of maintenance work, usally due to the effects of corrosion or erosion. The easiest solution would be to get some one in to do the work for you , but in todays financial situation more people are taking on the challenge of completing the work themselves.

"Out of sight, out of mind" is a popular saying that has been around for ages. Those who apply it to home maintenance, however, are asking for trouble.
